From the album and project Poppyland Songs; Life On A Cliff Edge.
Nominated for the Norfolk Arts Awards 2022 ‘Poppyland Songs’ is a musical tapestry telling the stories of life on a cliff edge through song inspired by 100 year old journals . With support from Arts Council England, Bertie gathered stories & memories from people past & present in Poppyland, North Norfolk and composed a song cycle.
There is also an accompanying podcast to this album.

This song was found in a journal from 1912 which was the inspiration for this album. This song was transcribed by Kit Hood from a Norfolk Labourer called John Gray, he had learnt the song from a 'famous old lady, Mrs Church of Northrepps. John addedhis own final verse.
